How to Add Memory to Dell Latitude Used Laptops
Page 1

Introduction:

In any operation there is always a step 1.  To ease the learning curve here I have included pictures that we call figures.  The pictures were taken by our mediocre digital camera.  So the resolution may not be the very best.  But I think that you should easily get the idea as long as you follow along with your laptop in front of you.  It might even be a good idea to print out these pages so that you can just reference the information as you begin the operation.  If there is something that is not addressed in this tutorial you can always check out the online Dell Latitude CP/CPi User Manual.

Step 1 in Changing or adding to your laptop(dell) memory:

As in any operation, it is always a good idea to make sure that your dell latitude laptop is unplugged and that the battery has been removed.  If you need instructions on how to remove the battery and or drives from your dell latitude check out this page.

The next step is to turn your laptop over so that you have it lying on a flat clean surface.  You might want to have a cloth to lay the laptop on so that you do not scratch the top case of your latitude laptop. (See our nice photo)

This dell latitude is lying - top down - so that we have access to the memory trap door.

You should note that the back of the Dell latitude laptop is facing you.  Or at least if you are following this tutorial it should be facing you.

Disclaimer:

It is our intention to help people add or change memory in their Dell Laptop.  We however will not be responsible for any damage or other issues you may encounter while you are using this tutorial.  We advise that you consult a certified dell laptop technician familiar with the Dell Latitude line of used laptops.  Use this tutorial at your own risk.

Technical note - I find it odd that Dell has so many screws in this model that they did not secure the memory cover with any type of fastener.  I have found that a common problem with this model latitude (CP and CPi) is that the laptops memory cover clips can easily break if you are not careful.
