The cover should lift right off.  You should see something similar to Fig 3.1 above.  In this example the Dell Latitude CPi we are using has only 1 memory bay filled with memory.  We will actually remove this memory SIMM in order to show how to remove the SIMM.  We will then reinstall this memory.  If you are adding 2 SIMMs to your laptop(dell) and must remove the current lower meg memory just follow along.  Its really very easy.
