How to Add Memory to Dell Latitude Used Laptops

The empty memory bay

The memory bay is now empty in our example.  You should note some important features of the memory and the memory slot on the Dell Latitude Laptop.  Take a look at Fig 5.2 and note that the memory has a notch closer to one side than the other.  You will see that when you look at the memory slot there is a keyed part of the slot that matches the notch in the memory.  This will help you put the memory back into the laptop in the only way it will fit.  The 2nd bay is just a mirror image of the 1st memory slot.

You should note that your memory may have more chips on it and may or may not have chips on both sides of the SIMM.  This is not important in this example.  As long as you have purchased the proper memory for your laptop.
