GETTING INTO THE "SETUP" PROGRAM DURING BOOT-UP

Do you have a computer that you can't figure out how to get into its BIOS "setup" program to change the hard drive settings or some other configuration information?  Then the following information may help.

NOTE: This information applies to older machines and primarily systems with propriety motherboards made by name-brand manufacturers.

ALSO NOTE:  If all else fails - if you can't find the correct key combination below for your computer's setup program, then you can try the following:

Ø      try pressing any key during boot-up to cause a keyboard error to occur

Ø      disable some device such as a floppy drive

Ø      locate a generic setup program or a setup/configuration diskette (usually in some kind of zip file format) from the web site of the manufacturer of your computer.

Note: a setup diskette is required with most 286 and older machines and for many Compaq and IBM systems.
