We carry mini laptops

In some cases the used laptops that we sell could be considered a mini laptop.  The definition that we use to define mini laptops are refurbished laptops which are under 5 pounds and have a 12 inch or smaller screen.  In most cases these cheap laptops have the floppy and CDROM drives externally.  Which can be a double edged sword.  If, for example, you leave your CDROM drive on the plane or your floppy drive in the motel you might not be too happy.  What you gain in light weight convenience you lose in compact design.  So when looking at and choosing the best mini laptop for your application keep in mind that you give up convenience for light weight portability.

Benefits of the mini laptop

  • light weight - usually under 5 lbs

  • thin and compact

  • can easily be matched up with a docking station

  • Not as popular so prices can be lower than comparable laptops that are larger.

My Opinion on Mini Laptops

As with everything that we sell on this website I do have my opinions.  Mini Laptops or small laptops as some people would call them are actually just exactly what laptops are supposed to be -- light weight, small and portable.  Somehow laptops have turned into desktop alternatives that are not really portable.  After all who needs a 17 inch wide screen in a laptop.  It doesn't make any sense.  The idea of the laptop is to be portable and not break your back when carrying the laptop around. 

I know when I am in the airport I do not want to have this large laptop computer which needs a separate carry case and is just another device I have to keep track of in the airport.  I like a small portable unit that will fit in my carryon with all my other stuff.  That is not to say that the desktop alternative computer does not have its place.  I can see that unit sitting on my desk because it would take up less space than a monitor and tower computer.  But lets not call those laptops.  Lets call them -- desktop alternatives.
