Panasonic Toughbooks are simply the toughest computers you can get your hands on.  Whether you want a powerful notebook, an elegant machine, something to drive over, or just something to spill concrete on while playing solitaire on site, Panasonic has you covered.  All the Panasonic Toughbook models are tested for dust, water, vibrations, extreme temperature and moisture resistance, as well as drop shock absorption.  This makes the pc solution that’s tough enough to handle diverse applications like battlefield intelligence, medical communications for casualty care, field inspections, and surveys.  Toughbooks can take it day in and day out. 

The Panasonic Toughbook is not a military looking machine. The bottom of this laptop is a dark grey and it has a magnesium cover.  This machine has a 13.3-inch TFT active matrix LCD screen.  It is designed with a built in touch pad.  The Panasonic Toughbook CF 47 weighs about 7 lbs this is one heavy laptop. 

The biggest difference with this machine compared to others is that it has no dongles.   The Toughbook has the 56K modem with an RJ11 jack on the left side.  It has a PCMCIA slot that holds the Ethernet card, and the best part of all is that the floppy disk drive, CDROM, and the hard drive are all built into the machine.  You don’t have to change from CDROM to floppy drive to save information.

I have read in a few articles that this laptop has had some issues with the operating systems of Windows 98.  After they have been reinstalled with Windows 98 SE they have worked great.  People say this is one of the best laptops out on the markets.  As for being “tough” it holds up to its name.
