Innovating since 1984, Dell continues to make a significant impact on modern computing and has become a household name. When you think about Dell, however, rugged computers probably don’t immediately come to mind. Allow us to introduce Dell Rugged Laptops. These tough computers are built with security and durability in mind, making them the perfect choice for those that work in healthcare, government, and military organizations.
Rugged Laptops vs. Consumer Laptops
These Dells might look a bit different than what you are used to. No, they are not as shiny and sleek as ordinary Dell laptops, but that’s not the focus here. Rugged Dell laptops are exactly that- made to work-almost anywhere. In fact, these rugged computers have been tested to ensure they meet exclusive Military Standards and Ingress Protection ratings for rugged ability such as MIL-STD-810G and IP5X. Simply put, these laptops are made to withstand vibration, shock, sand, dust, rain, extreme temperatures and more-meaning your rugged Dell laptop can handle even the toughest jobs.
For more information on certifications and ratings for rugged computers, check out our blog: Testing a Toughbook's Mettle: the story behind the certifications.
Even though they may be rugged, Dell didn’t skimp on the features for these laptops. Some of the specialized features include:
- Anti-glare, HD, LED screen
- Extensive connections and expansion slots including; USB, HDMI, VGA, and Ethernet
- Tri-Metal™ casing, magnesium alloy corners, and steel hinges
- Backlit keyboard
- Multi-touch touch pad
Not only are these computers versatile and durable, but they are also EPEAT-Silver certified by the Global Electronics Council (GEC). Products under this certification system can be rated bronze, silver or gold. To get a Bronze rating, a product must adhere to all 23 required criteria. A Silver rating means a product meets all the required criteria plus at least 50% of the optional criteria. A Gold rating is awarded to products that meet all required criteria and at least 75% of the optional criteria.
While these standards are pertinent to those in government contracting- they also provide insight for eco-conscious consumers. EPEAT certifications ensure that Dell’s rugged laptops meet and exceed green tech standards including; energy conservation, materials selection and product longevity.
Buying refurbished vs. Buying New
While buying refurbished is a much more affordable way to own a rugged computer, you might still have reservations, and we get that. You should be cautious about who you buy from. When buying from us, you can rest assured that your laptop has been carefully refurbished by certified, expert technicians. We take extra time to inspect and test every unit when we get them and before we send them out, to ensure you receive the highest quality refurbished laptop possible. Lastly, nothing is more important to us than our customers and their total satisfaction with our products, therefore we provide an automatic, Limited Lifetime Warranty on every refurbished laptop we sell.
What you see is what you get
The laptops you see pictured here are real computers from our inventory that we have refurbished- not just stock photos. Why? Because we want you to feel confident in your purchase. While the laptops we sell are all in grade-A condition (unless otherwise noted), we don’t (and will never) try to pass them off as anything less than the tough, rugged tools that they are.
