What Is an Emissive Backlit Keyboard?

Imagine you are a police officer in your undercover cruiser, at night, staking out a suspect... any wrong move and you can give your position away...

but wait...

This is not a movie; it's real life- and yes, you still have to do research and paperwork (ugh).

A typical keyboard with a bright backlight is not going to cut it. You need something much more "stealthy".

Introducing the Panasonic Toughbook emissive backlit keyboard

This keyboard emits a gentle glow around the keys and behind the symbols so that you can see what you are typing, without your keyboard being a giveaway. It also has three brightness settings ( for the purposes of this article, we will refer to them as low, medium, and bright) so that you can choose what suits your needs and environment the best.

Here is an example of a Panasonic Toughbook CF-54 MK2 in complete darkness, with the screen brightness (maximum 1000 nits) turned all the way down and emissive backlit keyboard on full brightness:

A consumer grade Dell XPS 15 9560 in complete darkness, with the screen brightness turned all the way down (maximum 350 nits), and emissive backlit keyboard on full brightness (this laptop keyboard also has three brightness settings):

Which would you rather use while undercover?
